A General Formula of Tune Spread Caused by the Middle-Plane-Asymmetrical Magnetic Field Errors

Abstract: The betatron tune spread caused by magnetic field errors in accelerators is an important parameter. In this paper, an expression of middle-plane-asymmetri-cal magnetic field errors is obtained based on the Maxwell equations, and a general of tune spread is derived starting from the transverse equations of motion.
