A HIGH GRADIENT 250keV PULSED PROTON BEAM ACCELERATING EQUIPMENT

Abstract: Up to 240 mA of pulsed proton beam has been extracted at 250 keV from an accelerating equipment with a high gradient "Pierce" accelerating tube. Normalized beam emittance is 0.36π cm-mrad (at 180 keV, 120 mA 100μs, 10pps). The design parameters and some preliminary test results of this equipment including a 250 kV C-W high voltage generator, an accelerating tube and a duoplasmatron are reported in this paper. This equipment is built for BPS preinjector study.
