Abstract: A new method—axial scanning method (ASM)—is devised to find the position of the focal spot of polycapillary X-ray lens. The absolute errors of the results obtained by using ASM for output focal distance of polycapillary X-ray lens range from -120μm to 120μm. The energy dependence of the output focal distance of the polycapillary X-ray lens can be obtained by using the ASM over a broad energy range at the same time. The increase of the output focal distance of the lens with higher energies results from the decrease of the critical angle of total reflection with the increasing energies.
