Reflection-Asymmetric Shell Model Description of the Nuclei 221,223Ra

Abstract: Reflection asymmetric shell model is applied for the description of the low-energy level spectrum in odd-A 221,223Ra nuclei. The ground-state spin parity and the ground-state parity doublet bands are well reproduced by the present model. The presence of parity doublets suggests reflection-asymmetric (octupole deformed) shapes for nuclei 221Ra and 223Ra.
